Chlorella provides a means to bind toxins, especially heavy metals. It is so effective that one must be concerned about getting mercury and other metals from the chlorellla tablets. The first brand I used, from Dr. Mercola, is harvested from seawater near Japanese islands, but there are multiple recent papers showing high dissolved metal concentrations in those same waters. I was unable to find any independent lab test results showing the mercury concentration in the Mercola chlorella formulation.
