The carpet looks as show. There are variations in color which almost look like stains or grease marks. You have to expect this with a natural fiber. There is a loop pattern and the material is firm so it feels like you are walking on pebbles. if you are a tender foot I would not buy this carpet. I am keeping because it's too hard to return and just using it as an excuse to toughen up my feet I would not buy it again.
