Machine woven rugs are created on high powered industrial looms by simultaneously interlacing face yarns and backing yarns in order to craft a completed woven product. The base fabric is made up of warp and weft yarns that are woven to create the finished product. This type of production eliminates the need for a secondary backing.

Also known as polypropylene or by the Mohawk Industries brand name of Permastrand, olefin is noted for its unique fade and moisture resistance. Olefin is also colorfast, generates low levels of static electricity and is stain resistant. Olefin s fibers have the lowest density of all manufactured yarn giving olefin rugs a lightweight quality that makes them an ideal choice for indoor/outdoor rugs.
